Ekatva
EKATVA is a mixed-use community hub in Dharavi that reinterprets the industrial character of shipping containers and local brick construction to create adaptable spaces for work, learning, and social interaction. The project is organized around interconnected courtyards and elevated circulation, fostering community engagement while responding to the dense urban fabric of the settlement.
Concept
Unity Through Adaptability
Inspired by the dynamic and self-organized nature of Dharavi, the project combines modular shipping containers with locally built brick structures to create a flexible architectural system. The interconnected volumes form a series of communal courts, terraces, and shared circulation spaces that encourage interaction between residents, artisans, and entrepreneurs. The design celebrates Dharavi's spirit of resilience by transforming industrial materials into an inclusive environment for education, work, and community gathering.
