Brittayan
Brittayan is a circular residence that explores the relationship between geometry, materiality, and landscape. Defined by its curved brick walls and layered outdoor spaces, the house creates a calm and immersive living environment where architecture unfolds around movement, light, and nature.
Concept
Derived from the Bengali words Britta (circle) and Ayan (dwelling or journey), Brittayan is conceived as a home shaped by the symbolism of the circle—continuity, unity, and harmony. The design organizes living spaces within a cylindrical form that encourages a fluid relationship between interior and exterior spaces.
Exposed brickwork, shaded verandas, and landscaped surroundings soften the geometry, while the circular plan fosters a sense of enclosure and intimacy. The project reinterprets traditional courtyard living through a contemporary expression that celebrates craftsmanship, climate responsiveness, and a deep connection with nature.
