Rangamancha

Rangamancha is a contemporary auditorium and cultural centre designed as a place for performance and collective experience. Rooted in the timeless language of brick architecture, the project brings together theatre, music, and community within a civic space that celebrates gathering and cultural expression.

Concept

Architecture as a Stage

The design is inspired by the idea that an auditorium is more than a performance venue—it is a place of gathering and shared experience. A central performance hall is enclosed within a composition of brick volumes, creating a clear distinction between public, transitional, and performance spaces.

The architecture uses a monumental yet restrained language, where rhythmic brick walls, framed openings, and a ceremonial entrance establish a strong civic presence. The journey from the exterior forecourt to the auditorium unfolds as a sequence of anticipation, culminating in the collective experience of performance.

Rangamancha reinterprets the traditional theatre as a contemporary cultural landmark where architecture itself becomes a stage for art, dialogue, and community.
