Alor Jaali
Alor Jaali is conceived as a contemporary interpretation of the traditional screened house. The residence employs a series of perforated façades and layered volumes that filter sunlight, encourage natural ventilation, and establish varying degrees of privacy. Throughout the day, the building becomes a canvas of shifting light and shadow, creating a rich sensory experience while responding to the tropical climate and its natural surroundings.
Concept
Light as a Building Material
Alor Jaali reinterprets the traditional jaali as a contemporary architectural skin. The porous facade mediates between light and privacy, transforming sunlight into dynamic patterns that animate the living spaces throughout the day. The project celebrates the poetic relationship between architecture, climate, and light.
